I’m not a fan of the Facebook ad boycott. It’s not because I condone hate groups having a mouthpiece of any form, although there’s some fine details on free speech we all have to wrestle through, sometimes unfortunately.

It’s also not that I think Facebook is particularly great at understanding its global role.

What bothers me about the boycott is that Facebook is the target because it is the best. All of the other social channels are sloppily wrestling with the same issues, deciding where the freedom to socialize with like-minded folks ends and perpetuation of hate begins. It’s really tough and every well-meaning politicial, non-profit and think tank won’t agree on the line.
