Media Relations Manager

THE ROLE

The Media Relations Manager at Rooster Strategic Solutions serves as a media relations and earned media outreach specialist working on behalf of Rooster and its clients. The individual in this role is a public relations professional with experience in media relations and other external stakeholder communications, as well as reputation and issues management. The role reports to the Senior Media Relations Strategist.

The Media Relations Manager role supports the Rooster PR team as a coordinator and relationship builder among ag trade media outlets as well as non-endemic media, journalists, reporters and broadcasters, and is responsible for public relations and earned media activation as well as monitoring and performance measurement of PR campaigns and media coverage. As part of the growing PR & Content team, the Media Relations Manager position supports scalable client initiatives and campaigns to ensure world-class PR services and solutions, as well as clear and compelling communications on behalf of clients.

AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

Earned Media Outreach and Coordination

  • Support PR team in activating corporate communications initiatives and programs, campaigns, initiatives and tactics 
  • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, reporters and broadcasters, primarily within agriculture endemic and trade media 
  • Coordinate media events and launches onsite and facilitate media interviews 
  • Engage with national, regional and local media, including print, broadcast and online outlets
  • Develop public relations materials, such as press releases and media alerts, as well as media kit materials, FAQs, bios and talking points
  • Draft angles, pitches, media announcements and stories that are compelling to farmers and the media engaging them
  • Coordinate press inquiries, client media interviews and spokesperson opportunities
  • Write persuasive and engaging stories and articles as well as other content

Coverage Monitoring and PR Reporting

  • Metrics and data-centered approach to PR measurement and reporting; experience working with measurement tools such as Cision, Meltwater, Brandwatch or other social listening or media monitoring tools
  • Develop performance metrics in the form of public relations scorecards
  • Monitor campaigns and initiatives for earned coverage and clips across media types, and track earned media coverage and clips and report out on their impact
  • Research media markets to understand and outline the competitive landscape to ensure client media outreach is differentiated, timely and relevant; organize and manage editorial calendars
  • Stay ahead of trends and best-in-class public relations measurement tools and technology, making recommendations to leadership and clients on opportunities to scale and cost-share
  • Partner cross-functionally with media, digital, creative, strategy and data intelligence teams to leverage added value for clients through PR opportunities and ensure campaigns are tactically integrated across channels and media types

Strategic Communications

  • Support the creation of integrated brand-centric communications strategies and plans that move the needle on client and organizational goals
  • Draft strategic message maps and editorial or content calendars as well as thought leadership roadmaps 
  • Craft firm and client messaging and communications to position clients and subject matter experts as thought leaders
  • Collaborate with senior PR leaders and client executives to draft appropriate talking/message points and presentations, speeches or scripts
  • Identify opportunities at the intersection of public relations, social media and content to ensure earned and owned stories and their timing generate the greatest possible value and results and reduce potential unwanted outcomes
  • Reputation and crisis management experience a plus

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications or marketing
  • 5+ years’ experience in public relations, media relations or corporate communications in an agency, firm or fast-paced, high-growth in-house setting
  • Hands-on experience using PR monitoring, reporting and measurement tools, such as Cision, Meltwater, Onclusive or others
  • Analytics-driven about public relations measurement and impact reporting to ensure ROI of public relations 
  • Strong writing skills alongside an artful approach to writing and editing compelling stories of all kinds
  • Hands-on experience coordinating PR or media relations in B2B, including thought leader interviews and on-site media events
  • Passionate about public relations, media relations and earned media activation that is backed by digital and social savvy

THE ROLE

The Senior Marketing Operations and Technology manager at Rooster Strategic Solutions, will guide the company’s practice in helping Rooster and its clients build world-class marketing technology stacks, adopt new technology platforms and tools, and implement efficient marketing automation. This role will adhere to best practices and strategies for any and all aspects of online and offline technology use, implementation and adoption, including back-end support to ensure ad tech and marketing tech operate seamlessly and pace toward KPIs that include both brand and business goals. From lead scoring and attribution modeling to intelligence-driven customer and retention marketing strategies, this role will ensure marketing-communications initiatives are deployed and measured efficiently with world-class technology and tools on both the front and back end. 

Reporting to the CDO, the person in the position will be a key member of the growing digital arm of Rooster, supporting scalable client initiatives. This role will take a leading role in firm-wide integrated marketing-communications measurement/metrics, executing both ad-hoc reporting and dashboard development. The person in this position will partner across company functions and with both marketing and sales operations on the client side, as well as information technology, to ensure information and data flows smoothly across integrated marketing and sales functions, and supports regular executive-level reporting on campaign performance and ROI. 

AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Deployment, Optimization and Quality Assurance: Daily operational back-end and front end management of core systems, as well as those used to drive engagement, acquisition, optimization, retention and analytics/measurement. Make recommendations to streamline quality assurance processes and integrations to improve paid and owned channel deployment, as well as performance marketing channels and ad tech that underlie digital and demand generation strategies. Develop QA processes and analyses to measure and improve our efficacy and efficiency, as well as spend, analytics and ROI.
  • Marketing Operations, Technology and Platforms: Identify areas of inefficiency for process and marketing technology optimization, and propose and implement scalable solutions to clients. Oversee implementation and successful adoption of tools and technology, including education, training, workflows and procurement aspects of contracts and agreements for martech, as well as scaling solutions and integrations for the evolution of these technologies as clients’ businesses and brands grow.
  • Seamless Technology and Data Integration: Working alongside the Chief Digital Officer and the Chief Intelligence Officer in creating data strategies, supporting data management, hygiene and storage as well as security and privacy measures. Helping to unify disparate data sources and inputs across media and agency partners, social accounts, martech and other platforms in partnership with digital, media, content and other functional leadership. Ensure automated data extraction from disparate sources, as well as supporting the transforming and normalizing of data for analysis. Provide marketing analyses and insights from the data generated through marketing technology and create recommendations for actionable optimization.
  • Reporting, Performance and Measurement: Lead the creation, automation, and maintenance of processes and reports to measure marketing-communications and campaign effectiveness, including return on investment, leads analysis, customer retention, list acquisition and maintenance. Develop consistent reporting on measurement (KPIs) and impacts downstream, holistically. Visualize this data through dashboards that highlight key metrics/measures and initiative performance across channels and tactics

DAILY ACTIVITIES

  • Maintain martech stacks, as well as tech and platforms for analytics and optimization, engagement and acquisition and customer research and insights generation
